A NEW, more simple Recipe!

To make our eggs we used the same material we have used to make magic treasure rocks in the past, so I knew it would make fantastic dinosaur eggs. Making these magical eggs was so fun and SO EASY, always a bonus for us busy mama's, right?

Hatching Dinosaur Egg Recipe (affiliate links provided)
  • Baby dinosaurs (we found ours at Dollar Tree)
  • Baking Soda
  • Water
  • Food coloring
  • Vinegar to make them hatch
Add the desired amount of baking soda to a bowl.  Add a few drops of food coloring if color is desired.  Then slowly add water and mix.  SLOWLY add more water until the mixture is damp and mold-able, but not too wet.

Place some of the dough in your hand and then lay a dinosaur on top.  Cover the dinosaur with the mixture and form into an egg shape, securing the dinosaur inside

Once you have formed the dinosaur eggs, lay them on a baking sheet or similar to dry overnight

The dough dries hard, the end result being perfect dinosaur eggs

Dinosaur Activities for Kids

It was beautiful here one day last week so I set up a fun activity outside for Rosie.  I gathered a few dinosaurs and created a small world of sorts.

I then armed Rosie with a few tools for exploring- a magnifying glass, sticks, and a spray bottle of vinegar

She had so much fun!

She found a few creative ways to free the dinosaurs before using the vinegar

Using sticks as tools

The sticks worked great for breaking into the eggs

The baking soda and vinegar trick is one that never gets old.

This dinosaur activity was so fun for Rosie.  Once all the eggs were hatched she immediately asked for more!  Looks like we will be returning to this activity again real soon!
