Frosty Fluff Snow Play

Frosty Fluff!  An Amazing New Sensory Material Revisited!

We first explored with this new sensory material back in March and called it Gunk.   As soon as we saw the new material on the Ooey Gooey Facebook page we had to try it immediately.  It was so new it wasn't named yet.  That first batch was rather gunky so we called it just that- Gunk!  We had been meaning to retry the new sensory material using a little less shaving cream to see if it would be less gunky. It was!!!  But that wasn't the only way we altered the standard recipe to get Frosty Fluff..................

To Make Frosty Fluff You Will Need:

~  Two 16 oz boxes of corn starch/ corn flour (or one 32 oz box)
~  One can of shaving cream (any variety will do- unscented is best!)
~  Peppermint Extract (optional)
~  Buffalo Snow Iridescent Flakes  (We buy ours at The Dollar Tree and Walmart- you know,  that
    sparkly fake  snow glitter )

Slowly add the shaving cream and snow glitter to the corn starch.  You don't need the whole bag of snow glitter.  Just keep adding it until you like the amount of sparkle.  It takes a bit of mixing to work the shaving cream into the corn starch but the process is FUN!  Both materials feel amazing!  I added a couple drops of peppermint extract towards the end of the mixing process but you can add it at anytime or skip it.  It isn't necessary; It just adds another fun element of play and exploration.

How will you know you have the right consistency? The consistency should be AMAZING- fluffy- like clouds in your hands- not gunky or sticky at all but powdery- and mold-able.  It will be softer than any other powdery sensory material!  This stuff seriously feels like fluffy clouds in your hands (or what I would imagine them to feel like)   It is SO SOFT!  It holds it's mold better than any of the other homemade snow or sensory materials we have tried, making it  the perfect Homemade snow material!!! It is fabulous for making snowballs, snowmen, and even for having a snowball fight!

The possibilities for wintry play and exploration are endless!  I personally can't keep my hands out of this stuff.  All I want to do is run my hands through it over and over again.  it is so silky and fluffy and FUN!  And with the peppermint extract it smells amazing too!

Keep this homemade snow recipe in mind for Summer too and bring Frosty to life all year long with Frosty Fluff!

Note- Frosty fluff can be stored in a covered sensory bin or similar container and used for about two weeks!  It eventually loses it's fluff.  This sensory material is messy.  We often lay down a table cloth purchased from The Dollar Tree when engaging in indoor messy play.  You could also set your little ones up in the tub and wash all the mess down the drain once they are done.... or simply take it outside!  This ones worth  the mess  though :)
