GLOW-IN-THE-DARK BUBBLES (play recipe for kids) #bubbles #bubblesrecipe #playrecipesforkids #glowinthedarkbubbles #bubblerecipe #bubblerecipehomemade #bubblerecipesforkids
We love playing and exploring with bubbles in the warmer months!
Today, I wanted to create a new bubble recipe that would glow-in-the-dark.  After a bit of trial and error we were left with the most fun bubble activity we have tried to date!  Are you ready to be "blown away"?

We began by concocting a glow-in-the-dark bubble solution. This glowing bubble recipe is super simple, and you only need a few ingredients.

Glowing Bubbles Recipe (per bubble color)
You will also need:
  • Bowls
  • Spoons
  • Paper
Note:  For the best effect you will want to use a blacklight for this activity.  My girls love using these blacklight flashlights, and they are great for taking outdoors.  You can also use a blacklight fixture if playing with your bubbles inside.

Method

  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well, using one bowl for each color of bubbles that you wish to make.

FUN KID PROJECT: Make bubbles that glow-in-the-dark! SO COOL!
That's it! So easy, right?

There are so many fun ways to play with this simple bubble recipe, too!  Give kids straws so that they can blow mountains of glowing bubbles.

My girls loved this and played for quite a while just like this.

After a bit we got out some paper so that Rosie and Jewel could make bubble prints.  To do this have kids blow a big mountain of bubbles and then press a piece of paper onto them.
Rosie and Jewel loved blowing different bubble patterns and then seeing what type of print it would make when popped on the paper.

They popped several mountains of bubbles in varying colors to produce amazing, layered art effects.

Other fun ways to play with your bubbles:
  • Give kids brushes and use the bubbles to paint.  This recipe makes a great paint for kids!

  • Pour some of your glowing bubbles into a bin or container, add toy cars, and kids will be all set to play with a glow-in-the-dark car wash.

I gave Rosie and Jewel brushes, stampers, and other painting tools to explore with while they played.  We even tried traditional bubble wands, and they worked pretty well when blown gently.

My girls had tons of fun painting and playing in all sorts of ways!  This was a super fun way to play with bubbles, and this recipe was even loads of fun when tried in the daylight!

Tips & Resources:
  • When using straws for this activity be sure to go over having the kids blow out and NOT suck in.  Rosie has played with bubbles in this way enough times to have this concept down.... I am sure you can imagine how she may have learned ;)
  • You can buy glow-in-the-dark bubbles online, but part of the fun of making them yourself is experimenting with and concocting the ingredients. The store bought variety is also only available in two colors, but you can make a whole rainbow of colors using this recipe!
Looking for another fun way to play with bubbles?  Check out this awesome soap-free bubble idea from Housing a Forest.

I can not tell you how much I love this! Seriously brilliant! Have a young toddler? Worried about them taking in soap while making bubble mountains with a straw?

Well, this alternative is just too perfect!
