Rice makes a a great play material. It is less messy than play sand, and you only need a few common kitchen items to make it. Kids will play for hours, and this sensory rice will leave your entire home smelling just like Christmas, too!

Christmas Rice Recipe
- Begin by adding the desired amount of rice to a large, zip-seal bag.
- Then, add several drops of food coloring.

- You will want to use one bag for each color of rice that you wish to make.
- We used two bags to make both red and green rice.
- Add 3-5 drops of extract to the bag, using one of your favorite holiday scents, if desired.
- Then, add a small amount of water.
- The water just helps to coat the rice in the food color.
- Seal the bags tightly, and then hand them off to your little ones to mix up.
- They can pound them, shake them, squeeze them, and squish them.

- Once the rice is fully saturated in color leave it to dry right in the bag. Just make sure the bag is left open.

This rice makes a fantastic start to a holiday sensory bin.
