Contained Body Painting in the Bath

It is time for more messy play in the bath & sink!

For those of you visiting Growing A Jeweled Rose for the first time, the purpose of this series is to encourage messy play by illustrating how easy it can be to contain and clean any mess.  Each week,  The Golden Gleam will share a messy  play activity in the sink, and I will share a fun playtime in the bath.

I wanted to give Rosie and Jewel the opportunity to paint their whole bodies.  I also didn't want them to have to worry about making a mess or for their play to be limited.  Setting up body painting in the bath was the perfect solution!  I gathered a variety of brushes, a bunch of paint, and them let the girls have FREE REIN!

Both girls had so much fun with this playtime! Rosie always tries to paint herself during other painting activities and really enjoyed having complete freedom to explore.

She did a great job of keeping the paint out of her eyes

Rosie also loved painting her sister

Jewel didn't mind at all .....

She loved painting Rosie, too =)

The girls painted every possible surface, and I loved that they were able to without worry of making a mess.

The clean up process even became part of the fun.  Here, Rosie is painting with water to clean the paint off.  After we had all the paint cleaned off of the surrounding surfaces, I drained the tub, and then refilled it to give the girls a bath for getting clean.

The girls had so much fun with contained body painting, and once they were done, there was no mess left behind.  Only happy children :)

Note- We used washable tempera paint for this playtime and all mess washed right down the drain.    However, I recommend testing a portion of your own bath before recreating this activity just to be sure you experience the same result.  Here is a tip for if you ever have residual coloring after a fun bath activity.  Fill a spray bottle with bleach, spray, let sit, and when you wipe and it will lift right out!
