DYEING & DECORATING EGGS FOR HALLOWEEN
Materials
- Kool-aid packets or food dye
- Hot water
- Vinegar
- Cups/bowls
- Spoons
- Paper towels
Method
- Begin by boiling eggs as you normally would. Read our full tutorial on how to prepare perfectly boiled eggs.
- Allow the eggs to cool.
- While the eggs are cooling you can prepare the dye. There are many ways to dye eggs. Check out how we dyed eggs with Kool-aid and food coloring. Today, we used Kool-aid.
- Allow the dye to seep into the eggs until the desired colors are achieved. Then, remove the eggs from the dye and allow them to dry.
MAKING SPOOKY HALLOWEEN EGGS
Once the eggs are dry kids can transform them into spooky Halloween creatures! This is where stuff gets really fun.
Materials
- Dyed eggs
- Markers
- Paint/brushes
- Water
- Paper towels
- Googly eyes
Note: We left some of the eggs white and simply embellished them to look like ghosts, vampires, and skeletons.
Method
- Use paint, markers, and other craft supplies to decorate the eggs, transforming them into Halloween characters.
We ended up with ghost eggs, jack-o-lanterns, vampires, monsters, and more!
We love dyeing eggs as a family, and while Easter comes only once a year this fun activity doesn't have to!
ALTERNATIVE
- Skip the dye and simply use paint.
