Paint and PLAY- Glowing Bubble painting

It is time for more Paint and PLAY fun with the lovely Housing a Forest.  This week the challenge was to create art with bubbles, and we took our playtime to nighttime and made some fun glowing bubble art.

We began by concocting an easy to make glowing bubble solution.  This glowing bubble recipe is super simple, and you only need two ingredients.

Glowing Bubble Recipe

Method
All you have to do to make fantastically vibrant nighttime bubbles is mix a smidge of the glowing paint of your choice into a bit of water.   Then add a hefty squirt of dish soap and mix.  That's it!

We used a combination of glow in the dark and fluorescent paint to give us variety.  Both worked great!

Note- if using glow in the dark paint you will want to charge it by a light source before this activity.  If using fluorescent paint you will need a blacklight.

Once we had our bubbles mixed Rosie jumped right in to explore!

We began by blowing bubbles with a straw- that's always a favorite, and it is easy to see why

MOUNTAINS of BEAUTIFUL Bubbles!

Be sure to go over having the kids blow out and NOT suck in.  Rosie has played with bubbles in this way enough times to have this concept down.... I am sure you can imagine how she may have learned ;)

We attempted to make bubble prints by pressing paper to our glowing bubble mounds, and that worked ok, but not as well as I wanted.  So, we added a touch of cornstarch to our colorful bubble solutions and whipped them really well to give us bubble paint.  This made the bubbles themselves less translucent and more vibrant.  It also gave a fantastic consistency for more traditional painting.

I gave Rosie brushes, stampers, and other painting tools to explore with.  We even used traditional bubble blowers, and they worked pretty well when blown gently.

Rosie had tons of fun painting in all sorts of ways and making a beautiful, bubbly mess

This was a super fun painting challenge, and the best part, these bubbles are even loads of fun in the daylight!

Homemade Glowing Bubbles
Just too FUN!
Make your own glow in the dark bubbles using just TWO ingredients!

You can actually buy store bought glow in the dark bubbles online or at Walmart, but part of the fun of making them yourself is concocting the ingredients.  The store bought variety is also only available in two colors, but you can make a whole rainbow of colors using this recipe.

Now POP on over to Housing a Forest to see how they

I can not tell you how much I love this idea!  Seriously brilliant!  Have a young toddler?  Worried about them taking in soap while making bubble mountains and art?  Well, this alternative is just too perfect!
