Yeah, you read that right. Today, we made BIG ART using the largest canvas we could think of- our car! Rosie and Jewel had a blast, and all of the paint washed easily away after play. Read on to see how you can let your kids paint and wash the car this summer.

First, they painted it. Then, they washed it. Then, they painted it again! This activity kept Rosie and Jewel happy and playing for quite a long time! Read on to see how you can easily set this up at home.
Let Kids Paint the Car
Materials- Sidewalk Chalk Paint
- Paint brushes
- Cups/bowls
- Soapy bucket
- Hose
- Towels/rags
Note:
- For this activity I recommend using store bought sidewalk paint. Homemade chalk paint just doesn't work as well, and other paint varieties may permanently stain pavement.
Method
- Begin by pouring the chalk paint into cups or bowls.
- Stir a bit of water into the paint to make it stretch further if desired.
- Then, give kids paint brushes and set them loose!

Painting the Car
- The kids had a blast turning the car into a BIG piece of art!

- With an entire car to paint this kept them happily playing for quite a while, too!
- Just look at the fun!

- Then, once the kids were done the fun began again when they got to wash it all off!
Washing the Car
- Once kids are through painting the car have them wash the car as you normally would.
- That's it! All the mess will wash straight away!

Isn't that so cool?
Rosie and Jewel thought so and wanted to paint and wash the car again & again!

Extend the Fun
- Try painting the car at night using neon sidewalk chalk! (post coming soon)
- Make fizzy-pop chalk.
- Make chalk that glows in the dark!
- Try painting with paint filled eggs.
- Any variety of washable sidewalk chalk paint will work great for this activity.
- We have used chalk paint from the Target dollar spot, Walmart, Five Below, and Amazon.
- Our favorite chalk paint can be found in a variety of colors on Amazon here.
- Do NOT use other types of paint! We have tried this activity with washable tempera paint, and it washed right off of the car but permanently stained the sidewalk.
