Some of my greatest inspiration comes to me while perusing The Dollar Tree. I could spend ages in there thinking of ways to use just about everything. I just love it! The other day while on one of my many Dollar Tree trips, I came across these potted Easter trees. An idea was inspired! We could use this to create a Valentine's Friends and Family tree!
Rosie and I sat down together with an array of materials. I then asked Rosie who she loved. As she listed names I wrote them on paper hearts.
Once Rosie ran out of ideas, I helped her think of more people to include on our tree. Then it was time to decorate the hearts!
Rosie also used markers, glitter glue, stickers, and stamps. Then it was time to put the hearts onto the tree.
Rosie loved this part, and it was a great fine motor activity!
I thought it was so cute when I asked her who she loved and she said, "Santa!" What kid doesn't love Santa though, right?
Once we had made everyone else's hearts, I told Rosie that we had to make one for her. I then talked to her about the importance of always loving herself most of all. It was a quick and light hearted talk suited for a toddler, but effective none the less. I then helped her place her heart at the top of the tree.
This is now the centerpiece for our dining room table. Each night during dinner, we will revisit the tree and talk about our loved ones. Such a wonderful way to celebrate our family and friends, and all it took was a little inspiration, a couple dollars, and a whole lot of love!
We share fun kids activities several times a week!
